The Black Lit Bookfair Experience

Eatonville Books and Jook is an upcoming concept bookstore and Jook Joint inspired by the rich literary and cultural legacy of African American storytelling, gathering, and resistance. Named in honor of Zora Neale Hurston’s hometown—one of the first self-governing all-Black municipalities in the U.S.—Eatonville will be a space where books, music, and radical black joy converge.

While we continue the work of bringing our vision to life, we’re building community now through Black Lit Bookfairs—our traveling pop-up bookfair parties and private events. At our book fair parties we sell gently used and vintage books and physical media exclusively by African American authors.
